Playbook: what did operations look like on a particular day?

The situation

A customer says their order was promised for the 2nd. The order now says the 6th. Was the date moved before or after they were told — and by whom? Or: the auditor asks for raw-material stock on the last day of September, and stock has moved every day since.

The current screen cannot answer either question. Otiox records how every record changes, so it can.

Step 1 — Stock on a date

Open Command → Time Machine → Stock on a date and pick the date.

Time Machine: every material then, now and the change
Time Machine: every material then, now and the change

Each item shows the quantity then, now and the change: aluminium sheet 450 → 500, batteries 240 → 80. That is the month-end figure the auditor asked for — taken from recorded history, not rebuilt.

Step 2 — One record, then and now

Open the manufacturing order and choose the History tab, or add `?as_of=` to any record's address.

A manufacturing order as it was: each field then and now, what changed since
A manufacturing order as it was: each field then and now, what changed since

Every field — status, quantity, planned start and end, machine, scrap — then and now. What changed since lists each change with who and when; Occurred vs entered shows when something happened next to when it was recorded, so a back-dated entry stands out.

Why it matters

Because Otiox keeps the history of every linked record, you can follow the chain on that day too: the order, the manufacturing order behind it, the purchase order that fed it — each as it stood. That is how you answer *why* a promise moved, not only *that* it moved.

What you have at the end

  • Any record or the whole stock on any recorded date.
  • Every change since, field by field, with who and when.
  • Back-dated entries visible at a glance.
Screenshots come from the Otiox demo workspace. Choose Switch to demo in the sidebar to follow along; changes there never touch live data. Command reads your records and never changes them.
